Are you wanting to add more of God’s Word to your day to day life, beyond just your daily devotions? Well, a great place to start is by finding Bible verses to hang around your house.
Most of us spend the majority of our time at home so it makes sense for our surroundings to reflect what we want our minds to dwell on. The same way that an avid Star Wars fan might hang a movie poster on the wall of his tv room, let’s show our passion for God’s Word by giving it a place of prominence in our homes.
My purpose in finding Bible verses to hang is not just to find the most feel good verses so I’ll be happy when I read them. There’s nothing wrong with hanging that sort too, but my goal is to find verses that I feel would be most beneficial to see regularly and to remember. So that might mean it’s a particular area I struggle with or something that I think I could do better at, for instance.
These verses are all in ESV translation as that’s predominantly the translation I read. I have found the ESV Study Bible to be a wonderful resource if you are in the market for a new Bible.
And of course, there are any number of options of Bible verses to hang, and all of them would be great. If it’s the Bible then you can’t really go wrong. But I find these to be a great place to start. Heads up, you’ll notice Proverbs and James have the most number of verses on this list (it’s because they are two of my favorite books).
So with all that said, here are 35 Bible verses that would be great to hang around your house.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.
The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.
Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.
[On wisdom] I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”
If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?
If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing.
2 Timothy 2:22-25
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.
And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”?
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wanderings will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
1 John 2:3-6
And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
1 John 1:5-7
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
The Bible tells us to dwell on whatever is excellent or praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8), and what is more excellent or praiseworthy than the Bible? Because of that it makes perfect sense that as Christians we would want to decorate our homes to promote thoughts about God’s Word. Use this list as a starting point for some great Bible verses to hang around your home to help you and your family think more about God.
